Firebird
Performance at Museum of Glass, Tacoma, WA, 2010

Firebird is a live performance piece that I directed and performed in collaboration with Mizue Trinidad, a dancer, and six skilled glass blowers.

As Stravinsky’s The Firebird dramatically unfolds, I initiated the visual and emotional dialogues by creating abstract drawings using molten glass as if it were my paintbrush, then Mizue responded to them with her body movements. Six glass blowers were busy blowing and casting glass behind the scene for me to perform as the music flowed. Some sections of the piece was choreographed which were nicely woven with spontaneously performed sections. This performance piece premiered at Museum of Glass on September 11, 2010, and I am open to the opportunities to perform it again at different venues.
